MS Azure Services in Cloud Computing

MS Azure Services in Cloud Computing

In this tutorial you are going to learn about MS Azure Services in Cloud Computing.

Introduction to MS Azure

Microsoft Azure is a cloud service platform that provides users with access to cloud services enabling them to build, manage, scale and display applications via the internet.

MS Azure was launched on the 1st of February 2010 and till now it has data centers in more than 42 regions globally. It is preferred by 80% of the fortune 500 companies.

MS Azure Computing Services

There are 3 computing services of MS Azure:

  1. Virtual Machines
  2. Service Fabric
  3. Functions

Virtual Machines

Azure Virtual Machines provides users with options to create windows or Linux virtual machines in the matter of seconds with a large amount of customization.

  • Offers a large amount of optimization.
  • Provides low cost, pre-minute billing.
  • Provides enhanced security and protection.

Service Fabric

Service Fabric provides, that makes the process of developing micro servers and applications lifecycle management easier.

  • Produce applications with faster time to market.
  • Support Windows/Linux on-process or other clouds.

Functions

Functions allow users to build applications with services computing. Users pay only for the resources consumed.

Azure Virtual Machine

Azure Virtual Machine is one of the wide range of services that azure offers to create your instances. Each virtual machine provides its own virtual hardware including CPU’s memory, hard devices, network interfaces and other devices.

Benefits of Azure Virtual Machine:

  • Easy development and test.
  • Agility and scale.
  • Enhanced performance.
  • Pay-as-you-go pricing.
  • Extended data center.
  • Disaster recovery.

Virtual Machine in azure comes under computer services and it can be used with other services like Disks, images, Availability, Sets, Hosts etc.

Operating System

OS is one of the main components of Azure. The Operating System creates direct connections to remote desktop hosts. You can also set the OS disk in the virtual Machine so that the memory is not wasted. Few OS available for azure virtual machines are Ubuntu, RedHat, etc.

Customer Challenge

Migrating the cloud as fast as possible but maintain operating system control and compute SQL, server functionality.

Solution

Get the combined performance, security and analysis of the SQL Server, backed by the flexibility, security, and hybrid connectivity of Azure.

Key features:

  • SQL Server and OS Server access expansive SQL and OS versions Windows, Linux containers.
  • File streams DTC and simple Recovery model.

Azure SQL Database

Azure SQL Database is a general-purpose cloud based relational database as a service (DBaaS) based on the latest stable version of Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine. It supports T-SQL commands, tables, index, primary key, stored procedure, triggers, roles etc. As it is based on the SQL Server engine, SQL Database supports existing SQL Server tools, liberates and API’s which makes it easier for you to move and extend to the cloud. It is available in two purchasing models DTU and vCure.
